Dr. Hubert Karreman is a 1995 graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He has been a dairy practitioner for 16 years in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, working in emergency, surgery, reproduction and internal medicine primarily for certified organic dairy farmers. He recently limited his practice to only internal medicine for organic cattle. He is an internationally recognized expert in the non-antibiotic treatment of infectious disease and non-hormonal treatment of infertility. He recently finished a 5 year term on the USDA National Organic Standards Board (3 years as Livestock Chair) and in 1999-2000 was on the AVMA Taskforce for Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine, which wrote the current AVMA Guidelines on CAVM. He recently founded a company based on providing functional alternatives to antibiotics and hormones. His first book, Treating Dairy Cows Naturally: Thoughts and Strategies, is available from Acres USA and his second book, The Barn Guide to Treating Dairy Cows Naturally, also published by Acres USA, is now available. He is president-elect of the Veterinary Botanical Medical Association.
